About carmel choron

The way people communicate their deepest needs, through their body language and their physicality, has always been a passion. I first explored this passion through the performing arts in France, then into fine art figurative sculpture, doing a degree at Exeter followed by a post graduate course specifically on the human body, at St. Martins/Central, London.

Whilst doing a portrait head during my degree year, I realised that the model had suffered a serious illness earlier on in his life, I could see and sense this, in the way he held his head and how it sat on his neck, how he held his body, and his structure.

The models lives and thought patterning, and therefore their needs, were visible in their bodies. This seemed magical and I started looking more at what it is that makes each individual ‘them’.

Curiosity about the mixture of structure and essence, the interrelationship between energy, physicality and thought processes, HOW can we function optimally? This questioning led me to start exploring physical and energetic relationships, firstly through aikido.

I was so lucky to have as my Aikido teacher, Pierre Chassang, and being doubly lucky I spent lots of time with him as I translated for him on his courses. I also translated, not that well, Tamura Sensies’ book on etiquette, and a first take on Pierres’ book “Dit nous ce que tu sais.” The time spent with Pierre was more important than the time on the mat. The discussions about Rene Guenon, Daoism etc. all led me into understanding a little more about the ‘How’ in the interconnectedness of physical, energetic and mental that constitutes a living thing. Thankyou so much Pierre.

Alas Pierre did not live in England and unable to find an equivalent teacher, I was open to looking around at other teachers.

A friend told me about a talk being given by Dr. Shen Hongxun, who could …”do all that we talked about, and aspired to… with energy… and didn’t have to run around”. I was sceptical but intrigued.

It was true.

I started studying Buqi, and Taijiwuxigong and then Taiji. Dr Shen Hoxgun kindly accepted me as a pupil.

Dr. Shen has enough space in his heart and mind for everyone. Non denominational yet deeply spiritual, his teaching is from a scientific view point, and also that of a medical doctor, whilst at the same time, holistic.

Having been a continues student of Dr. Shen since somewhere around 1996  has changed my life, and the lives of those around me, I am deeply gratefull, and so are they, for all the help that I have received but most of all thankyou to Dr. Shen for his kindness and tolerance and also thankyou to Shen Jin for her compassion and understanding.

Both as a student and practitioner I have found that many aspects of healing and continued self-healing can be addressed / helped throught the different aspects of Dr. Shens’ systems.

Buqi is not a magic wand but a great working tool that helps us access ourselves.

It has no judgementalism no good or bad ‘chi’ Only a posibility to enable an easier way of being ourself.
